City of Whittlesea is delivering the missing link in the shared use path along the north side of McDonalds Road between the Darebin Creek Trail in Epping and Plenty Valley town centre.
The new 2.5m wide concrete shared walking and cycling path will be constructed within the nature strip on the north side of McDonalds Road between Scarborough Road and just west of Merrill Drive. The path will provide a continuous connection between Epping and Plenty Valley town centre in addition to various places of interest along the way such as Greenbrook Shopping Centre, Meadow Glen Athletic Centre and local schools. Safe road crossings will be provided at Scarborough Road, Derby Drive and Cabot Drive.
We’ll also be improving drainage and upgrading the pedestrian-operated signals near the intersection of Derby Drive and provide a link to the Greenbrook shops.
Council has developed a concept plan that will be finalised early next year with the path to be constructed in the second part of 2023.
As part of this project, Council will provide a concreted driveway between the path and your property and will asphalt the existing crushed rock driveway between the path and McDonalds Road. See the diagram below for details on which section will be concrete and which section asphalt for your property. You can also view the consultation plans for this project.
