About the project
The Edgars Creek Recreation Reserve is located on the corner of Steen Avenue and Edgars Road in Wollert. The reserve is part of the Edgars Creek Precinct which includes Council’s Ganbu Gulinj Community Centre and Edgars Creek Primary School and Secondary College.
Construction of the Edgars Creek Recreation Reserve commenced in 2018 when a competition compliant junior synthetic AFL / cricket oval, cricket nets and public toilets were constructed on school land as part of the Victorian Government’s Shared Facilities Fund.
A business case was endorsed by Council in April 2024 which includes:
- Second competition compliant AFL / cricket oval
- Four netball courts (two dedicated netball courts and two multi-lined courts for multi-sport use)
- Multipurpose sports pavilion available for community hire
- New sports lighting, walking paths and fitness station
- New roundabouts on Steen Avenue and Macedon Parade to improve traffic flow and safety
- An extension of the car park at Ganbu Gulinj Community Centre.
