More than 60% of the City of Whittlesea is rural or non-urban land currently protected from urban development.

Officially known as the Green Wedge, this land covers an area more than three times the size of Phillip Island.

While almost half of our Green Wedge is public land including our much-loved National Parks, forests and reservoirs, it is also home to agriculture, rural living, places of Aboriginal and other significant heritage value, recreation, natural resources and much more.
