About the High Street walking and cycling paths

The High Street walking and cycling path is identified in both the Northern Trails Strategy (2016) and Whittlesea Bicycle Plan (2015) as a high priority cycling trail along High Street that, once complete, will form part of a continuous trail between Reservoir and Wollert with a connection that will also form part of a trail to Whittlesea Township. Council is currently working on designing the section that will run between Keon Park Station and Childs Road as well as a connecting trail along the Mernda Rail line to Epping Station.

We are now seeking your feedback as to what you would like to see along this path.

The trail is divided into seven stages that will be rolled out in stages in to coming years.

  • Stage 1 - Keon Parade Station to M80 Ring Road Trail – 2023/24
  • Stage 2 - M80 Ring Road to Thomastown Station – 2024/25
  • Stage 3 - Thomastown Station to Lalor Shopping Centre – 2025/26
  • Stage 4 - Lalor Shopping Centre to Lalor Station – 2026/27
  • Stage 5 - Lalor Station to Childs Road (east side) – 2027/28
  • Stage 6 - Lalor Station to Childs Road (west side) – 2027/28
  • Stage 7 - Rail Trail between Childs Road and Epping Station – 2028/29

  • These stage timelines are subject to change.

The works will include road crossing upgrades, rest areas, landscape upgrades and associated infrastructure.
