City of Whittlesea is upgrading the Mernda Recreation Reserve.

We’ve already consulted with sports clubs, schools, kindergartens, community groups and residents and are now sharing the draft Mernda Recreation Reserve master plan for community feedback. Feedback received in phase 1 has been considered in the development of the draft master plan.

We invite the community to view the draft plan and let us know if we’ve missed anything before, we finalise the plan and present it for Council endorsement in late 2023.

• Plan to combine Community House and Community Pavilion. The draft plan suggests moving the Community House into a bigger community pavilion to give it more room to expand and offer more activities for the community.

• Formalised Car Parking. The draft plan proposes to formalise all car parking on site and on the street. This involves clearly marking parking bays and constructing accessible paths from the community facilities to the parking bays.
• Park lighting. New public area lighting is proposed for increased safety and visibility, along the main paths through the site to community facilities, and in all car park areas.
• Community recreation. The draft plan proposes new facilities, such as the multi-use court, bocce court, exercise equipment, and new play space to enable more users to make the most of the space. The plan also proposes new paths, seats, and amenities to allow for community use throughout the year.
• Prioritised implementation over 10+ years. The master plan will be implemented over the next 10 years, with community feedback guiding the prioritisation of actions.
